55th Anniversary Reunion 2012 |
|
Can you believe it!! It has been 55 years since we walked on the stage to receive our diplomas. How happy we were to start a new phase of our lives.
“We really pass’ a good tahm, chere at da ruh-une-yin. We miss ya’ll who dun miss dat.” That’s the best I could do with my Justin Wilson imitation. Anyway the reunion was held at the Holiday Inn South on April 13-15, 2012. The committee members were Randolph Ogden, Mary Jo Miller Arnold and Joe Campbell.
The reunion started off on Friday with passing out nametags, wine, beer, coffee in the Hospitality Room. All had a great time seeing old friends, showing off pics, catching up and swapping tall tails. There were lots of posters, pictures and memorabilia to see as well. The spacious atrium of the hotel was the setting for a great cocktail party which capped off the evening. The evening was filled with lots of great food, tons of “great to see you’s” and plenty of stimulating conversation.
Saturday began with a gathering in the Hospitality Room. At noon, the girls got together in the hotel dining room for their Monthly Lunch Bunch. That evening, about 80 of us classmates, spouses and friends met for a scrumptious buffet dinner. Joe Campbell welcomed all on behalf of the committee and added a bit of nostalgia and read a poem by Irwin Shaab entitled "Something to think about after 55 years”. Joe and Randolph presented Mary Jo with a beautiful bouquet of roses in recognition for her hard work in making this reunion possible.
Not wanting the wonderful time to end many gathered Sunday Morning at the Holiday Inn for breakfast. It was a time to bid farewell to the friends met anew, share a few hugs and make plans to see each other again. Rumor has it that since so many attended and had such a good time, we should try to do it again. Just think about it, in 2014, “Class of ’57 Celebrates 57th Anniversary Reunion.”
Many thanks to the photogs who sent in pics to use in the albums: namely, Joyce Westmoreland Schoonmaker, Mary Jo Miller Arnold, Gail Lagarde Willson, Sylvia Wiese Iskander, Jo Ann Womack Stahel and Joe Campbell. In case you didn’t realize it, here are the links to the included items. Enjoy!
